Throughout history, artists have used the color white or lack of color to highlight significance in their art. From Henry Ossawa Tanner’s bold white strokes of light in a dark interior to Agnes Martin’s muted transcendental palette, to Barbara Hepworth’s cool marble and cast forms, artists have boldly displayed the emotional power of white to convey their many intentions. Blanc de Blanc investigates artists’ deliberate use of white in their artwork. Over 120 artists applied from across the country and over seas, and curators Nezka Pfeifer Curator, Everhart Museum and Rita Reamer, Designer chose 37 pieces for the exhibit.
